Forth Environment Link and Recyke-a-Bike have joined forces with Cycling Scotland to make the region’s two bike share schemes, nextbike and Forth Bike, free to key workers during April. Find out more.
Forth Environment Link and the Active Travel Hub are playing an important role in bringing bike share to both Falkirk and the wider Forth Valley. Bike Share is a service in which bicycles are made available for shared use to individuals on a short term basis.
In June 2019, Forth Environment Link launched Forth Bike. We are working with bike share provider Bewegen, to deliver the UK’s first cross regional partnership electric bike share project, supported by Transport Scotland, SEStran, NHS Forth Valley, Clackmannanshire Council, Stirling Council and Falkirk Council.
The Forth Bikes are ideally suited for commuting and leisure trips. They are equipped with a basket at the front, to place your possessions in, as well as a secondary lock (located in the front basket) if you ever need to make an impromptu stop. The bikes can last up to 60 miles on a single charge, making them a real alternative to the car.
There are currently docking stations at the following locations:
To celebrate active travel and the opening our three new Forth Bike stations in Clacks, Clackmannanshire Third Sector Interface put together a wonderful video showcasing how our bikes can be used to explore this beautiful part of Scotland! Take a look:
All 120 of the bikes in our scheme are Pedelec. The gearing and the level of assistance the battery gives a cyclist is entirely is entirely automatic (the computer figures it out all by itself)... so all you need to do is to pedal.
