FAQ

Can you help with walking and cycling routes around Stirling?

Absolutely! We have two enormous wall maps covering Stirling City and the wider area, with many walking and cycling routes marked on them. We stock a number of maps that you can take away with you, and are always happy to talk you through different options. We can help with anything from the commute to work and city centre shortcuts, to mountain biking and touring routes.  We've also got a number of different routes on our route planning pages.

I haven't walked or cycled in a while. Can you help me get back into these activities?

We love helping people to walk and cycle. We run short led bike rides to showcase local routes in an easy-going and social way – check our events calendar for the latest. We can also signpost you to other social activities run by our volunteers and partner organisations – there’s so much going on locally, there is an activity suitable for everyone

Can you help with bike repairs?

In the Hub, we have a tool kit and bike pump that are free to use if you need to borrow them. We can give general advice on bike repairs, and point you in the direction of local bike shops.

Our friends from Recyke-a-Bike are at the Hub every Friday offering free "Dr Bike" checks. See our events calendar for timings.

How can I get access to a bike?

There are a few different options for accessing a bike in Stirling.

Nextbike is Stirling’s public bike share scheme. There are 23 stations around the city where you can access one of the 160 bikes. There are various membership options available, and if you are a student at either University of Stirling or Forth Valley College then you can get a free membership. For more information, drop in to the Hub or visit Nextbike's website.

Recyke-a-Bike sell second hand, refurbished bikes for very reasonable prices, and for new bikes there’s Stirling Cycles and Velocity 44.

Further afield, there is bike hire available in Callander, and at various locations across Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park.

The Hub has an electric bike library, with a few different styles of bike available. If you would like to try out an e-bike to see how it could fit into your everyday life, please get in touch to arrange a demo session.

Are there bikes suitable for those with a disability?

Forth Valley Disability Sport ‘Get Out Get Active’ project encourages and supports everybody to give cycling a go. They have a variety of adaptive bikes available, including semi-recumbent, side-by-side and trikes available for anyone to try. They hold ride sessions on a Thursday at Falkirk Stadium.
